DMR Talk Groups, logically follow a prescribed heirarchial plan; or at least they should. DMR IDs, as assigned by DMR-MARC, utilize the first four numerical characters for Country and State (for the US at least). For instance... - TG 31nnnnn falls within the US
- TG 3128nnn falls within US.MS
- TG 3128nn is allocated for repeaters within US.MS (US.MS.RPT)
- TG 3128n usage logically falls within US.MS for TAC channels (US.MS.TAC)
So why is XRF813_A utilizing MS_TAC1 (or the Mississippi_TAC1 channel, DMR TG 31281)? Was this something that happened by virtue of random or creative numerical selection, or did someone assign this? Is XRF813_A located within, or serving only the State of Mississippi in the US, or what? It seems that innovation sometimes clouds the rules, those being conventional and logically thought out. I'd just like to understand what is happening with this. Sincere thanks for your well thought, courteous, and helpful replies!

Hi,
XRF813 (XLX813) is run by the Amateur Radio Experimenters' Corner. They have a Yahoo Group same name and I was going to suggest asking there, but the group is not very active. Ken N1DOT is involved, so you might ask him. His information is on orz.com.
