I've been asked a couple of times to "reserve" a particular XRF number. The Directory is for x reflectors with active dashboard links and is not a reservation system, although it might function that way when checking to see if a particular number is likely available. My intent is to keep it focused that way, so as soon as you have a live link, post a message and I'll put it on the list.
If I did try to use the Directory for reservations, it would at least double the work, updating the server for a place-holder then the actual reference. Then I would need to have some kind of policy and keep track of placeholders that never turned into actual working x reflectors. It is more work and complications than I choose to do. Also, having reservations in addition to actual x reflector references makes the job more complicated for those who use the directory as one source of input for public host files.
I created this thread for anyone to use to announce plans to use a particular number as an alternative to trying to implement reservations.
